I will tell u how to make live bootable cd or pendrive......
1. 1st of all you need the iso file of the linux version u r trying..... U may download that from the official sites...
I prefer you to go for ubuntu, since it is the most user friendly linux distro.....
you can download it from www.ubuntu.com
2. Now u have the iso file.... Now you need the iso recorder softare....
>> for making a live cd use "iso recorder"... U can download it from HERE
>> For making a bootable usb u can use "universal usb instakker" ...
download it from HERE
INSTALL THE SOFTWARE
[ in my opinion u better use a bootable usb ......]
>>LIVE CD....
once u installed iso recorder,.. open it and do the onscreen instructions.....
click next..... and make a cd......
>>BOOTABLE USB
open the usb installer,..... select the linux version...... and chose the iso and click create...... thats all
> now u have cd/usb .........
> restart ur system, goto bios menu..... (to access bios menu, u have to press a certain key repeatedly when the system starts up,.... in case of dell its F2)
> Now make the primary boot device as cd or usb depending on which bootable device u have....
Reboot the system.... Thats all......
